The second week consisted of further discussion of the project concept and finalisation of the ideas. Our team meeting was conducted via video conference call, which seemed to work fairly effectively, however I feel that face to face group meetings are still needed in order for ideas to discussed properly.
Each team member was tasked with researching a different aspect of the design plan. I was tasked at looking at the 'element of surprise'. I was a somewhat confused as to what exactly I had to look at, however after to some discussion and research, I was comfortable with my assignment.
I was also asked to look into a preliminary budget for the construction materials. I felt that it was too early to effectively produce a relevant budget due to the fact that the design was still in its infancy.
As a substitute to working on a preliminary budget I decided to come up with logo design concepts that would represent our group. The group had decided on the on name of 'five-fifteen' which represents the number of group members and also the year in which we graduate. I felt that this was a simple, yet clever name for the group and fits well with our style.
I set to coming up with design ideas for the logo. I considered using traditional numbers as well as roman numerals. I personally prefer the roman numerals, as they a attractive symmetry to the design as well as adding some subtlety.

First Ideas
The first week of the Project Management section was spent discovering the subject of the project. The team is assigned to create a design which encourages "creative conditions" within a workplace for a competition ran by the RSA Student Design awards.
After much research and discussion the team decided to design a creative workplace using the ubiquitous storage container which is used to transport goods all over the world.
I felt that this design proposal is a good idea with promise. Using empty storage containers will allow us to stretch our creative muscles. Some of the team members weren't so enthusiastic about the design ideas as I was, however myself and another team member persuaded them to give the proposal a chance.
I am slightly apprehensive about how the design project will develop, as I feel that the team has very different design skills but also work in different ways. It may be a struggle to come to unanimous decisions and have a cohesive design strategy. I believe it will be beneficial for the team to have regular team meetings/discussion in order for ideas to be discussed and plans to be made.
Good team work is the key to a successful project management project and it is imperative that our team works well together and communicates effectively.
